About Kindell
My name is Kindell Buchanan and Eat For The Long Run is a blog I created to share my running and nutrition knowledge, healthy living tips, and travel adventures. I grew up in a small West Texas town, and I currently live in the greater Nashville area with my husband Kyle and our doggy son, Aries.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media and Studio Art from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. I am a Certified Holistic Nutritionist with AFPA and also hoping to become a certified run coach in the future.

I used to travel often for work and love to find new ways to make life on the road easier and more comfortable – I love to share tips and tricks that I learned along the way! While I don’t travel much for work anymore, I currently work as a production manager for a photography company which allows me to work from home or wherever I want as long as there’s WIFI!
In 2007, I ran for my university for a season and was part of the first women’s cross country team in the history of our school! After graduation, I didn’t run consistently for most of my twenties and then decided I wanted to complete my first half marathon before I turned 30. Since then, over the span of 5 years I’ve ran 6 half marathons and one full marathon, additionally competing as a masters track and field athlete for two seasons now. I’ve completed two sprint triathlons and someday aspire to complete an Ironman 70.3! Though I am proud of my accomplishments, I promise I’m not trying to brag about myself endlessly. I just want you to know that I’m qualified to give running and nutrition advice!
I love running in cold weather and I live for iced coffee in the morning and the occasional glass of red wine in the evening. My favorite things are record store browsing with my husband, new running shoes and workout outfits, exploring new cities with my camera, chips & salsa, and spending 3 hours in Target buying “all the things.”
The Lord hath created medicines out of the earth; and he that is wise will not abhor them.

MY MISSION
I believe that God gave us everything we need when He created the earth. It took me a long time to understand that I could believe in both God and science at the same time because generally we are taught that is must be one or the other. Once I embraced the idea that God can perform miracles defying the laws of science and THROUGH science, I feel like a whole new world opened up to me. There is an abundance of natural medicine available in the form of plants which were widely used to treat diseases and ailments before modern times. Though we have made major medical advancements during recent decades, we have gotten away from teaching people how to not need the medicines in the first place. A healthy diet cannot fix every medical condition, but it can do a lot more than we realize.
My mission is to educate and empower you to make every bit of food you eat an opportunity to nourish your body and enrich your life. As a nutritionist I can give you advice and present you with science-backed evidence, but I cannot claim to treat or cure any medical conditions or illnesses since I am not a medical physician. You should always speak with your doctor before making any major changes to your diet or starting a new exercise routine.
Every body is different with unique needs and your doctor can help you decide what is best for you, but I do encourage you to ask questions, advocate for yourself, and let them know if you are willing to make diet and lifestyle changes before going on a medication (or alongside a medication) if that is a safe option for you.
Let food by thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.
