As a a long time runner, finding a hydration and electrolyte supplement that wasn’t laden with sugar was such a victory find for me. Ever since I discovered Nuun while running my first half marathon (San Francisco Half Marathon 2016) I’ve been obsessed and it’s the only hydration drink I use.
Nuun is packed with vitamins, electrolytes, and non-GMO verified. There’s only 2 grams of sugar and 15 calories in one tablet!
During a time where it’s safer for everyone to stay home if they are able to, it’s hard to always have the groceries and ingredients you need for food, much less cocktails. Just a few days ago I looked at our bar cart and all we really had was tequila and nothing to mix it with. I’m not much of a straight tequila girl so…

Walking past our kitchen counter, I noticed one of my Grapefruit Orange Nuun tubes and a light bulb went off! I decided it was worth experimenting with.
Nuun Margarita
After dissolving a Nuun tablet in 2 ounces of water, I added an ounce and a half of tequila and then added 4-5 ice cubes and stirred. That’s how easy it is!
Note: Do not shake! The effervescence of the tablets and shaking doesn’t end well. Yes, I tried. Ha!
More Recipes!
Since this experiment was successful, I decided to further explore my Nuun cocktail options. Here’s what else I came up with:
Nuun Sangria:
Dissolve Tangerine Lime or Grapefruit Orange tablet into 1.5 ounces of water. Wait until fully dissolved and then mix with 4-5 ounces of red wine, add in 4-5 ice cubes and stir
Gin & Nuun:
Dissolve Tangerine Lime or Grapefruit Orange tablet into 2 ounces of water. Wait until fully dissolved and then mix with 1-2 ounces of gin, add in 4-5 ice cubes and stir!
There are so many different flavor combinations you could try! My next plan is to try a Watermelon Margarita. I’ll let you know how it goes!
What combination would you try?? If you make any of these, let me know in the comments!
